2. What mounting pattern does it require?

VESA® Compliant Hole Patterns

VESA standards state that the mounting holes must be in the exact same place on the back of a screen. VESA compliant mounts have the exact hole patterns of the TV already built into them. Common VESA screen standards are 75 x 75 mm, 100 x 100 mm, 200 x 100 mm and 200 x 200 mm and can be found on most LCD screens less than 42" in diagonal screen size.

7. What functionality do you need the mount to have?

Flat	Flat Flat mounts are designed to create a clean appearance keeping your screen tight against the wall providing the lowest profile mounting solution. Flat style mounts are the most basic solutions for flat panel screens.

Tilt mounts provide versatile solutions for close to the wall installation by offering tilt functionality to achieve optimal viewing angle and reduce reflective glare.

Pivot / Tilt and Swivel

Pivot / Tilt and Swivel
Pan and swivel mounts can be folded flat to the wall but also add an extra degree of flexibility enabling the flat panel screen to extend from the wall and for the screen to pivot and be partially turned left or right to accommodate multiple viewing positions. Some models also allow the screen to be tilted in order to achieve the ideal viewing angle for each viewing position. This style of mount allows clear and direct viewing even when not seated directly in front of the screen.

Articulating mounts make it easy to view the display from any angle. In addition to flat on the wall position, the screen can also be pulled away from the wall and be turned all the way to either side or anywhere in between to accommodate all viewing positions from both sides. Some models also include tilt and up and down adjustment for perfect viewing angle and screen position. Various pivot points allow for a multitude of viewing options.

Multi-screen ceiling mounts are designed to support two or more flat panel screens in back-to-back, in-line, curvilinear or even circular position. Multi-screen ceiling mounts enable the screens to tilt and swivel to achieve the ideal viewing angle.

8. What (if any) certifications are needed?

UL
The UL Listing mark means that the product has been submitted to rigorous safety testing by Underwriters Laboratories, an independent safety testing lab. For a mounting product to pass the UL approval process it has to be tested for strength and "pull out" to a minimum of four times its stated load capacity. (Do not exceed rated capacity in actual use.)
